With an education from the University of Barcelona in Chemical Engineering, Victor Broto immigrated from Spain to New York City. He graduated with a Masters in Chemical Engineering from New York University, married and started his family. Victor’s career centered on the aerospace industry. He specialized in bonding and plating and practical process chemistry with Aerojet in Sacramento, Reeves Soundcraft in Massachusetts and Boeing in Seattle. Seattle turned into home. B & P Laboratories, Inc. was established to address the need for manufacturing process control, effluent control and contamination remediation of EPA Superfund sites in Washington state that Victor identified as critical analytical goals for our community.
Abby graduated from University of Washington with an Industrial Engineering degree. She started her career in Silicon Valley as a commercial engineer permitting new business for PG&E. From there she moved to Lockheed where she presented the first “statistical process control” data automatically acquired and analyzed for automatic wave soldering operations to the Navy. After 10 years Abby returned to the Great Northwest as an Environmental Engineer with the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency. Assigned to minimize air pollution, she initiated, developed, codified the Aerospace Coating regulations and the Autobody Coating regulations for use of low-VOC coatings and high volume low pressure spray coating equipment to minimize solvent usage and VOC emissions. Abby Lee collaborated with Boeing to write the first Air Operating Permit for the aerospace industry in Washington. In addition visiting with local aerospace and electronics industry companies for environmental inspections, regulatory enforcement and education.
